JOB TITLE:               Youth Pastor                         REPORTS TO:          Lead Pastor

DEPARTMENT:        Youth (Revive)                      SUPERVISES:          Youth Volunteers

CLASSIFICATION:  Full Time Pastoral Staff

PURPOSE

The Youth Pastor at Revision Church brings leadership, vision, and direction to the youth ministry, and creates a culture of passionate engagement for students, volunteers, and parents. One of Revision’s core values is Loved People Do Life With People. The Youth Pastor creates spaces and environments where students can connect deeply with God, with one another, and with adult leaders who care.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Testimony of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  2. Evidence of a life that is growing in spiritual maturity
  3. Ability to connect relationally with students
  4. High-level communication skills
  5. Ability to identify, recruit, train, and retain skilled volunteers
  6. Pastoral shepherding heart and love for both students and the local church
  7. Passion for Revision’s mission to help people meet Jesus and follow him fully
  8. Commitment to the vision, purpose, and core values of Revision
  9. Alignment with the statement of faith of Revision

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serve as the Youth Pastor for Revision Church, including:
    1. Planning and executing midweek Revive large group gatherings
    2. Planning and executing midweek Revive small groups
    3. Relevant, Biblical, and engaging teaching for students
    4. Planning and executing multiple annual youth events, including but not limited to, retreats and mission trips
    5. Recruitment, training, and retention of a committed volunteer team
    6. Shepherding students in a pastoral way that helps them connect relationally and grow spiritually
    7. Shepherding volunteers in a pastoral way that helps them maximize their gifts and grow spiritually
    8. Regularly communicating with parents/guardians of students in Revive and working to equip them to help their students grow spiritually
  2. Serve as a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team, including:
    1. Attending weekly staff meetings and helping to shape the mission, direction, and methodology of Revision
    2. Providing a pastoral presence at Sunday, and other, worship gatherings of Revision
    3. Communicating from stage including, but not limited to, announcements, preaching, and baptisms
    4. Potentially, if desired, training, coaching, funding, equipping, etc. to go and plant a brand new church in the future.
  3. Create and manage an annual budget
  4. Participate in annual staff planning retreat
  5. Other duties as requested by the Lead Pastor

RELATIONSHIPS

The Revision Staff is a mission driven, intentionally improving, boldly dreaming, crazy generous, tight-knit team. The Youth Pastor will be a key leader on this team, reporting directly to the Lead Pastor, leading teams of volunteers to creatively and passionately pursue the mission God has given Revision Church, equipping parents to be the primary stewards of their students' spiritual development, and helping students at Revision crash into Jesus and learn to follow him fully.

Revision is a fast-growing young church plant in Des Moines, IA that exists to help people meet Jesus and follow him fully. We have seen hundreds of people come to faith in Jesus over the last few years. We started 9 years ago with a few families meeting in a park, and we're now a church of over 300 that has launched two more new church plants and helped plant hundreds more churches globally while also committing ourselves to serving and loving our city and spreading the good news of the gospel. After being a mobile-site church plant for 9 years, we recently purchased a building which we'll be moving into sometime this summer, and we're excited for the ministry opportunities having our own space will provide. As we continue to grow quickly and prepare for the growth potential of a new building, and as our youth group continues to grow, we're excited about hiring a full-time Youth Pastor to help students meet Jesus and follow him fully and can cast and execute a compelling vision for the future of the ministry.
